As a child, I was surrounded by my parents and close family members numbing away their pain with drugs, alcohol, and the most underestimated poison in the world, oversized portions of low-quality food
At the same time, my mom, aunts, grandma would all call themselves fat, chunky, you name it, unknowingly influencing me to become hyper-focused on my own appearance at the young age of only 12.
I began dieting, eating only turkey slices and mustard, but then after being starved, I'd hide in my closet while stuffing my face with Costco-sized chocolate muffins and the whole box of gushers. I joined sports, not because I wanted fun or a community, but because it would help me lose weight.
This type of behavior went on for 7 years until I had already gone through so many cycles of losing and gaining weight, absolutely hating my body that I eventually gave up and by the age of 21 was 180 lbs at only 5'2". On my 21st birthday, I vowed to STOP exercising or eating for a look and instead do it for my health.
SINCE THEN I’VE HEALED MY RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD...
I learned that this path to health has no end date, and successfully kept off 30 lbs over the last 3 years. I'm the strongest I've ever been (I've got 8 bodyweight pull-ups down!) and also the healthiest I've ever been both mentally AND physically.
Through my experiences, I discovered that my mission in life is to help the millions of women who've "tried everything", yet are still 20+ pounds overweight that change is POSSIBLE and they don't have to live in the constant cycle of "starting over on Monday."
